Regenerative design goes beyond sustainability's aim of doing less harm to ask how a product, building or service can actively restore — soil, water, community, materials. It borrows from living systems: closed loops, local abundance, resilience through diversity. It is the ambitious end of environmental design, and it changes the brief from 'minimise footprint' to 'leave it better'.
